Wrestlers Protest at Jantar Mantar for the 18th Day, Demand Justice
Wrestlers from across India have been protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for the past 18 days, from 23rd of April2023, demanding justice for the discrimination and neglect they have faced in their respective states. The wrestlers have been on a strike, and they have made it clear that they will continue until their demands are met and the accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh not get Arrested.
Wrestlers demand equal opportunities:- The wrestlers are demanding that the government and respective state wrestling associations provide equal opportunities to all wrestlers. They allege that the selection process for major tournaments is rigged and that only wrestlers with political connections or financial power are selected. The wrestlers claim that many talented wrestlers from rural areas are ignored, and only those from urban areas are given a chance. Else this statement might be differ but the conditions of the Game is Pitiable.
Wrestlers demand better facilities and coaching:-The protesting wrestlers also demand better facilities and coaching. They claim that most wrestling centers lack proper facilities, such as mats, weights, and running tracks. They also allege that the coaching staff is not qualified or experienced enough to train them for major tournaments. The wrestlers say that they have been forced to train in unsanitary conditions and that they have been neglected by their respective state wrestling associations. Meanwhile according to Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh the conditions and Facilities are already world class and no issue in anything, the conclusion will be live after or while Investigations. Till then all of us have to wait and watch.
Wrestlers allege corruption in the wrestling associations:-The protesting wrestlers have also alleged that there is widespread corruption in the state wrestling associations. They claim that officials demand bribes for selection and that the selection process is biased towards wrestlers who have connections with the officials. They allege that many deserving wrestlers have been ignored because they refused to pay bribes. On the other hand Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh told in many interviews and statements through social media that he made the wrestling and talent very compromising and attractive to participate. Nothing need to improvement. He Said in his earlier interview that the Players on Protest wants to not to give any trials for International Competitions and that's why they are here to protest, he even said that there is a very big political angle and some strong political people and some big businessman are willing to take over WFI and WAH so people have to listen both side. One more thing that Mr. B.B.S.Singh said is that the wrestelers are changing their statements and Demands every time.
Government promises action:-The wrestlers' strike has caught the attention of the government, and the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports has promised action. The minister has assured the wrestlers that their demands will be met, and that the government will take steps to ensure that there is no discrimination in the selection process. The government has also promised to provide better facilities and coaching to the wrestlers.
The future of Indian wrestling:-The protesting wrestlers believe that their strike will bring about change in the Indian wrestling scene. They hope that the government and state wrestling associations will take their demands seriously and work towards providing equal opportunities to all wrestlers. The wrestlers believe that if their demands are met, India can produce more Olympic medalists in wrestling. And on this statement Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh Replied that they are doing the work to drowning Indian Wrestling and the future of many Children engaged to wrestling. The Protesters are spoiling the Career of the next generation wrestlers.
The wrestlers' protest at Jantar Mantar has brought to light the discrimination, neglect, and corruption that exist in the Indian wrestling scene. The protesting wrestlers demand equal opportunities, better facilities and coaching, and an end to corruption. The government has promised action, and it remains to be seen if they will follow through on their promises. If the government and state wrestling associations work towards meeting the wrestlers' demands, India can produce more Olympic medalists in wrestling. In the end the Govt. should take necessary actions against the accused and a fast track Judgement Committee should be assigned to resolve the matter and investigate everything quickly and Provide the Justice. So that the players can continue practices,
